A few members of the Reisch Brew Crew took a few days out of their busy schedules to head to Potosi, WI and visit the National Brewery Museum. Some of you may recall that in the spring of 2009 a group of members went to Potosi to fill a display case with Reisch Brewery items to help advertise the BCCA's 39th CANvention taking place later in the year in Springfield. The Reisch display was such a success that the museum director asked the Brew Crew to again bring some IL breweriana pieces to display for an entire year.
The theme of the 2 display cases is Central IL Breweries. Breweries in the west from Quincy and Warsaw to the north as far as Peoria. In the east Danville is represented and as far south as Springfield. Over a dozen breweries are represented in two display cases. The Crew spent Friday cataloging and organizing the items on loan to the museum. Friday evening was more relaxed sampling the excellent food and fine brews in the breweries restaurant and brew pub.
Saturday the Port of Potosi Chapter of the ABA held their annual breweriana show. Over 200 tables quickly sold out and the show was a great success. One aspect of the show that was definitely a bonus was that local beer distributors came out and gave free samples. 3 distributors including the Potosi Brewery shared their samples with the more than 200 people in attendance.
